Revealed: Majority of West Ham United fans want Snodgrass to start against Newcastle United

With the winter schedule fast approaching, it is important for West Ham United to start picking up wins.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have only won three of their 13 matches and their most recent outing ended in a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.

This weekend, the East London outfit have the chance to put things right with a trip to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

It is not yet clear if Pellegrini will make changes, but he could revert to the 4-1-4-1 system that he has used for the majority of the season.

One man who will be available for selection is Robert Snodgrass, who was suspended for the City clash.

At one point it looked as though the Scotland international was on his way out of the exit gates at the London Stadium.

However, he has proven to be useful this season, starting seven top-flight matches and coming off the bench in a further five.

We asked you if Snodgrass should be named in West Ham’s first XI against Newcastle, and the majority of fans are all for it.

Revealed: 80% of Everton fans want to sign Eder Militao

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Everton fans have been discussing their long-term interest in Eder Militao, and a whopping 80 per cent of fans want to sign the versatile youngster.

According to reports, Manchester United have joined the growing list of suitors for Porto wonderkid Militao, as Jose Mourinho is desperate for a top quality centre back.

The 20 year-old can play as a right back, centre back or defensive midfielder, and both Manchester clubs are now on his tail.

This comes after Everton were heavily linked with the Brazilian earlier last month, as reports claimed the Toffees had sent scouts to watch Militao in action.

Marco Silva and Marcel Brands were hard at work overhauling an ageing Everton defence this summer, and signing Militao could be the perfect next move.

The youngster has Champions League experience, is physical enough to perform week in week out in the Premier League, and his versatility will be a huge boost for Silva’s squad depth.

He could even be Seamus Coleman’s eventual successor, as the Goodison fan favourite will turn 31 at the beginning of next season.

Southampton should enter the race to sign Miguel Almiron

[ad_pod ]

According to The Chronicle, Miguel Almiron’s father has claimed that Newcastle United are currently leading the race to sign the Atlanta United’s star’s signature in the upcoming January transfer window, but Southampton must join the chase for the South American talent.

What’s the word?

The 24-year-old would be a fine addition for the Magpies, who look to be in pole position to land the attacking midfielder. As per the aforementioned report, Almiron’s father stated that “he will definitely go to England, what’s left to be decided is to what club but Newcastle is the one with the advantage.”

The 13-cap Paraguay international is certainly ready for a switch to the Premier League. At this stage in his career, it is the right move for Almiron to make.

Almiron should attract the interest of plenty of top flight English outfits. Newcastle may currently be leading the way, but they should not be allowed to sign the MLS man unchallenged. Southampton would be wise to fight for Almiron’s signature themselves.

Adding end product

New Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will be fully aware that the squad now at his disposal desperately lacks creativity and midfield goal threat.

Almiron’s 2018 return of 13 goals and 13 assists from 37 MLS outings suggests that he could bring some much-needed end product to St Mary’s Stadium. His vision and ability to carve out goalscoring opportunities for his teammates means that he could also help to bring the best out of the likes of Danny Ings, Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabbiadini.

What do you think, Saints fans, would Almiron be a wise winter buy?

Joan Jordan: Ideal for Newcastle United

Newcastle are starting to steer away from the Premier League relegation zone following a spell of good form.

Things looked bleak at the start of the campaign with Rafael Benitez given limited funds to strengthen his squad during the summer. A poor run of form put the Magpies in serious danger of relegation to the Championship. Fortunately for the St. James’ Park faithful, Benitez has managed to improve their fortunes in recent weeks resulting in their slow ascent up the table.

The January transfer window is now less than two weeks away from giving Benitez the chance to add to his ranks. Takeover talks have dominated the headlines on Tyneside in recent weeks with Mike Ashley believed to be close to selling the club. A new owner could give the former Liverpool manager some valuable funds to play with.

One man who should be on his shortlist is Eibar midfielder – Joan Jordan. Valued at just £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the 24-year-old is a graduate of the Espanyol youth academy but failed to make the grade in the first-team. After various loan spells, Jordan was finally sold to Eibar in the summer of 2017 where he hit the ground running and has since developed into a critical player for the La Liga side.

Jordan made 35 appearances last season, scoring six and assisting four for his team-mates. The Spaniard’s excellent form has continued into the new campaign, finding the back of the net twice as well as creating three for his team-mates. Jordan is the ideal box-to-box midfielder for Benitez’s system – he has averaged 1.7 tackles per game as well as averaging 2.3 key passes in La Liga this season (WhoScored).

Still improving and developing with every game, there is no better time to bring him to the Premier League.

Newcastle United must offer Alberto Moreno the chance to find himself again

Rafael Benitez will surely target a full-back in the coming weeks to allow him to change Newcastle’s formation.

The Spaniard was given little funds to improve the squad during the summer which resulted in a poor run of form that left the Magpies in the wrong half of the Premier League table. Benitez stated it would be a ‘miracle’ if he saved the club from relegation and confirmed his thoughts still stood following the 4-0 defeat against Liverpool. Fortunately, the January transfer window will give him the opportunity to bolster his ranks.

According to reports, signing a new full back is high on his list of priorities with Paul Dummett the only recognised left-sided defender at the club. While Dummett prefers a flat back four, Benitez has often utilised wing backs and he has struggled. Signing a defender capable of playing both roles will be a must in January.

One man Benitez could target is Liverpool outcast – Alberto Moreno. Valued at £8.1m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard joined Liverpool after winning the Europa League with Sevilla and made a decent start to life at Anfield. However, a string of erratic performances saw Moreno lose his place in the team with Jurgen Klopp using James Milner at left-back. Following the signing of Andy Robertson, Moreno has been unable to reclaim his place in the starting eleven. An interview conducted last week criticised Klopp which makes a January departure even more likely.

Indeed, the 26-year-old did enjoy a decent spell in the side before getting injured and allowing Robertson to take his place which will give Benitez hope that he can rediscover his best form. Moreno can play in a flat back four but also has the pace to play further up the field if necessary. If Benitez can help him mature as a footballer – this deal could prove to be a bargain.

Opinion: Daniel Levy is wise to target Cengiz Under instead of Christian Pulisic

Daniel Levy is renowned for his frugal approach to the transfer market, and Tottenham’s recent failure to sign Christian Pulisic further underlined what was already glaringly apparent.

The announcement that Chelsea had signed Christian Pulisic in a £58 million deal arrived as a shock to the footballing world at the beginning of the transfer window. What was less shocking was the fact Spurs held talks with Pulisic before he decided to move to Chelsea, according to the London Evening Standard.

While no specific reason was stated to explain why Tottenham had not matched Chelsea’s offer, it would be fair to assume that Levy was priced out of a potential deal.

There is no question that Pulisic is a quality talent to watch in the years to come and his stardom back home in the USA makes him an attractive commercial proposition for any top European club.

However, Levy will understand that Spurs can climb to the next level both in football and financial terms if he is smart with his recruitment strategy, so doubts over the true extent of Pulisic’s ability may well have forced him to turn his attention elsewhere, and rightly so.

According to a recent report from Turkish media outlet Fotomac, Spurs are interested in signing a superior wonderkid, namely Cengiz Under, although they will face competition from Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich for his signature.

The 17-time capped Turkey international has been in sensational form for Roma this season. Under signed for Roma in 2017 and initially had to bide his time for regular opportunities.

He made just 15 starts in Serie A during his debut campaign but he has established himself as a first-team regular this season by starting 14 from 19 league matches, scoring three goals and assisting six in the process.

There are shades of both Riyad Mahrez’s dynamism and Xherdan Shaqiri’s bullish approach in Under’s play: he is a natural left-footer who tends to drift inside from the right with the ball at his feet, dribbling beyond opponents with incredibly tight ball-control and throwing agile drops of the shoulder before adding the finishing touches in promising attacking situations.

That Under has already managed to score 14 goals and provide ten assists in 54 appearances for Roma in all-competitions is a testament to the enormity of his raw potential, and there is no question that he is one of the most potent wonderkids on the continent right now.

On current form, Under is streets ahead of Pulisic and a far more attractive proposition for Tottenham as they prepare to enter a critical phase in their long-term development.

If Levy is able to fend off competition from a host of European giants, it would undoubtedly be a deal worth salivating over for Tottenham supporters.

HYS: Should Tottenham sign Florian Grillitsch?

[ad_pod ]

Sky Sports claim Tottenham are chasing Hoffenheim ace Florian Grillitsch, so should the Lilywhites sign the tough-tackling midfielder?

No, Grillitsch is not Jack Grealish’s Austrian cousin, but the 23 year-old has been superb for Hoffenheim this season.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham have sent scouts to watch the Austrian international at both club and international level, and they were clearly impressed.

CheekySport’s Joel claims Spurs badly need to invest in January after not having “the balls” to beat Arsenal. Check out his uncensored opinion in the video below…

The North Londoners are keen on a deal according to the report, and the player has a release clause of just over £18m.

The report claims the club are also keeping an eye on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria, as they search for a successor for the departing Mousa Dembele.

Grillitsch plays mostly as a defensive midfielder, and has impressed in both the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, averaging 2.3 tackles, two interceptions and one key pass per game.

The young midfielder may not be particularly well-known, but his mixture of defensive solidity and progressive passing makes him the perfect Dembele replacement.

Spending around £18m on a player the majority of fans haven’t even heard of would be quite something, but should they pull the trigger? Spurs fans, let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…

Tottenham running risk of losing Eriksen to Real Madrid

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham are running the risk of losing Christian Eriksen in the summer, according to AS.

The Denmark international has yet to sign a new contract and, with his current deal expiring in 2020, Real are hopeful a deal can be struck to take him to Spain.

What’s the word?

Eriksen has been dragging his heels over signing a new contract, with talks currently at an impasse between the two parties.

The Dane currently earns £70,000-per-week and is looking to double his wages in London.

However, Spurs are still operating within a strict wage policy and it has been reported that there is now “little chance” of a deal being reached.

AS quote Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, who is remaining coy on links with the Spanish giants.

He said: “I would prefer not to comment on issues of contracts and transfers, Christian would like to focus on his football, it was his concentration, along with his football qualities, what has taken him to this very high level, we will see what the future brings.”

CheekySport’s Joel claims Spurs badly need to invest in January after not having “the balls” to beat Arsenal. Check out his uncensored opinion in the video below…

Spurs, of course, have seen key players leave for Spain in the past.

Luka Modric joined Real Madrid in a £30million deal in 2012, while Gareth Bale briefly became the most expensive player in world football in 2013, as he joined Los Blancos for £85m.

Spurs dare not repeat previous mistakes

Tottenham must move quickly to tie Eriksen down.

The playmaker, at the age of 26, is approaching his peak, and is a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. In fact, it could be argued that, other than Harry Kane, Eriksen is the club’s most important player.

He has been in a rich vein of form recently, too, providing nine goals in his last 10 games, be they goals or assists.

Real, of course, are right to be interested; Modric, the Ballon d’Or winner, is approaching the twilight of his career and Eriksen appears a ready-made replacement.

But Spurs hold the cards. They have broken the bank before, handing Harry Kane a deal worth £200,000-per-week, ripping up their wage policy in the process. Dele Alli, too, is reported to now earn £100,000-per-week.

At the very least, Eriksen deserves parity with those two, and Daniel Levy would do well to quell any fan discontent by keeping the midfielder around, and showing that Spurs have shed the tag of being Real’s feeder club.

West Ham fans are delighted as Manuel Lanzini returns to training

[ad_pod ]

West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in jubilant fashion after it was revealed that Manuel Lanzini would be returning to training, following a seven-month injury lay off after suffering a knee injury with Argentina in the build up to the World Cup, as reported by the club’s official website.

The diminutive No.10 is one of, if not the most, important players at the London Stadium, and his creativity and ingenuity in the centre-attacking midfield role is a huge feature of the Hammers’ attacking play.

In the 2017/18 season, before his untimely knee injury, the 25-year-old hit five goals and recorded six assists in 23 Premier League starts (as per Whoscored),  and has become a fans’ favourite since arriving on an initial loan deal from Al Jazira back in 2015 (as per the BBC).

Who should replace Marko Arnautovic if he leaves West Ham? FFC’s James Jones has the answer! Check out the video below to find out…

The east Londoners have since signed Felipe Anderson to provide some creativity in Lanzini’s absence, so when the pair of them are fit and available to take to the field together, the London Stadium will be undoubtedly drooling to watch them strut their stuff alongside each other.

Amongst all the doom and gloom of the Marko Arnautovic transfer saga that has dominated the club this month (as per Sky Sports), news of the Argentina international’s return has put smiles back on West Ham fans’ faces at least…
