No stopping Chris Cooke and Colin Ingram as Glamorgan march on

Glamorgan made it four wins out of five in their Vitality Blast campaign when they beat the Sussex Sharks by 32 runs at the 1st Central County Ground. For the third match running, their dominant figures with the bat were Colin Ingram (48) and Chris Cooke (50), whose rich vein of form swept them to a formidable total. The Sharks, though, are moving in the opposite direction. This was their third straight defeat, and their fourth in five games, and they now have a mountain to climb if they are to progress in the competition. In their most recent defeats it was their batting that let them down, but here it was their bowling.Ravi Bopara, Sussex’s captain, said: “I thought we were very poor with the ball. Obviously that’s where we lost the game. We bowled about 12 or 13 extra balls. To chase that down was always going to be hard work. That’s where we lost it.”It’s frustrating to be without certain players. We had high hopes for Ali Orr in the blast this year. That’s been a massive blow for us and we haven’t really replaced him as an opener. In this format you need quality openers. They’re generally the guys who win you games.”The guys are still learning. And learning quickly is important. It’s important we stick together. I remember at Essex we won only one game out of six or seven and we went on to win the tournament.”Chasing a huge victory target of 220, Sussex never looked in the chase despite a plucky charge from Tom Alsop, who scored 58 from 41 deliveries. Tom Clark, pulling across the line, was bowled by Jamie McIlroy in the third over and in the next fellow opener Tom Haines departed, unluckily run out through a deflected straight drive by Alsop.Sussex needed something special from Bopara, but their skipper departed in sloppy circumstances, lifting a full toss from Kiran Carlson to long-on for just ten. And two overs later Shadab Khan was caught at cow corner, just below the dressing rooms, for three. The situation was hopeless. But no-one told Alsop. And for a short period, while he found a reliable partner in Michael Burgess, the near-impossible looked on. With ten overs to go Sussex needed 148. Then, from the last five, they needed 90, at an improbable rate of 18 runs an over. But then Alsop was yorked by Dan Douthwaite to make it 133 for 5 in the 16th over and even the most diehard Sharks supporters gave up hope, not even encouraged by some poor catching by the Glamorgan fielders. At least some late hitting by Nathan McAndrew, who struck four sixes in an unbeaten 28, entertained those spectators who remained from a large crowd.Glamorgan had made the most of a flat pitch, a fast outfield and some wayward bowling and fielding from the Sharks to pile up 219-5, with Ingram and Cooke again the stars of the show. There were 23 extras in the innings, including eight no-balls and nine wides. They got off to a flyer, scoring 71 for 1 in the powerplay. There were also two dropped catches in that opening passage of play, to add to the fielding side’s frustrations, including a sitter by James Coles.Glamorgan did lose the dangerous looking Eddie Byrom early on, the batsman, injuring himself in the course of a 10-ball 17, and had to be helped off the field. But captain Carlson maintained the impetus of the innings with two sixes and three fours in a 16-ball 26 before he skied Henry Crocombe to the wicketkeeper Burgess.Sam Northeast, quiet in the opening overs, picked up his pace and raised the hundred from the final delivery of the 10th over when he clouted Shadab over square-leg for six. The Sharks dismissed Northeast at 106 in the 11th over when the batsman drove Crocombe to short extra-cover where Bopara took an excellent low catch. But because of their poor start the Sharks had difficulty stemming the flow of runs as Ingram and Cooke plundered their bowling. Shadab, bowling the 14th over, went for 18 runs and then the next over, bowled by McAndrew, went for 19 runs as Cooke raised the 150 with a marvellous stroke, carving McAndrew over extra-cover for six. Tymal Mills, Crocombe and Bopara had reasonable bowling figures but the other three, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, McAndrew and Shadab were very expensive.

The Manchester United 25-26 home kit officially launched on June 12, 2025. Primarily red with white logos and black accents, it is designed to capture the true essence of the club's identity, honouring its rich history and foundational spirit. The design takes inspiration from Old Trafford, also known as 'The Theatre of Dreams'.

The club has not incorporated bespoke sleeve prints on their home shirts for quite some time, but this time, you should see an abstract sleeve graphic in various shades of red, highlighting elements of the pitch, stands, and tunnel. The last instance of a unique sleeve graphic on a Manchester United home jersey was the 1996-98 design.

To complete the look, the kit features a stylish black and white V-neck collar and sleeve cuffs, black three-stripes running down the shoulders, and contrasting white adidas and sponsor logos. A final touch, paying homage to the club's heritage, is a 'Theatre of Dreams' sign-off on the back of the collar. A notable feature is an Old Trafford-inspired graphic on the sleeves, along with "Theatre of Dreams" printed on the collar, paying homage to the iconic stadium.

The new Man Utd home kit can be bought for £85 ($115) for adults, with the authentic strip costing £120 ($162). These rates are for the short-sleeved shirts.

The 2025-2026 Manchester United away kit, featuring a white, plum and modern lilac base with metallic trims, has been unveiled on July 16, 2025. This colour scheme is inspired by the distinctive snowflake pattern from the 1990-92 away kit, but this will not be the first time Adidas has drawn inspiration from the snowflake design for Manchester United kits. They previously used it for the 2015-16 third kit and the 2017-18 away kit. In addition, this season's away kit even incorporates an innovative snowflake M pattern.

The new kit has an overlapping V-collar and flaunting the devil logo instead of the full club crest, a design choice by Adidas. The shorts for the 2025-2026 away kit are expected to be in a dark plum shade, which matches the colour used for the logos on the shirt.

The pricing for the United 2025-26 away kit resonates with that of the home kit.

The new adidas Manchester United 2025-2026 third football shirt, officially unveiled on August 12, 2025, brings back the iconic look of the 1993-94 away shirt famously worn by Eric Cantona. The club confirmed it would be worn for the first time on September 27, 2025 in the Premier League game against Brentford.

The kit is predominantly black with striking yellow and blue accents, mirroring the original design from three decades ago. Key features include the classic Adidas Trefoil logo and a contemporary take on the shielded club badge. The shirt will also sport a stylish tricolour design on the collar and cuffs, with matching shorts and socks to complete the kit.

The black and grey base exposes a subtle yet striking club devil motif, woven directly into the design, finished with authentic 3-stripes in bold yellow across the shoulders.

Speaking of honouring the club legends with this strip, the on-field version of the kit is available to purchase for €150, while the fan version is €100.

The design of the Adidas Man United 2025-2026 goalkeeper home football shirt resembles the Juventus 2025-26 keeper shirt, with a predominantly black base that smoothly transitions into grey towards the bottom. This is nicely accented by the logos and other details rendered in a light green colour.

The jersey is built upon the new Adidas 25 Tiro Goalkeeper Competition teamwear shirt. Leaks have also revealed a blue goalkeeper drip, likely to be used for away matches.

Meanwhile, the new Adidas Manchester United third goalkeeper kit for the 2025-26 season is similar to that of Bayern Munich. The kit features a striking bright mint green colour with subtle vertical stripes. It also showcases the classic Adidas Trefoil logo along with a shielded Manchester United crest.

While the Man Utd home goalkeeper adult long sleeve shirt is available for £90 ($122), fans can anticipate the release and availability of the other two drips anytime around late summer of 2025.

Shots fired! Lautaro Martinez tells Hakan Calhanoglu to leave Inter president confirms dressing room drama after Club World Cup humiliation against Fluminense

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Inter crashed out of the Club World Cup with a 2-0 defeat to Brazilian side Fluminense at the round of 16 on Monday. After the dismal display by the Champions League runners-up, Martinez blasted at least one of his team-mates without specifying who, suggesting they leave the club. Calhanoglu was left out of the squad altogether for Monday's clash and hasn't featured for the team at the Club World Cup.

"The message is clear: whoever wants to stay, stay, whoever doesn't want to stay must go," he said. "We are fighting for an important shirt and we have to fight for important goals… I won't name names. We are here to do everything, but I saw many things that I didn't like. So as captain, as group leader, then there is the coach first, but I have to say it because that's who I am. I'm on one side or the other: I want to fight for the goals because we are a great team, we have returned to the top and I want to continue."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite his attempt to keep his target anonymous, Inter president Marotta later confirmed the jab was aimed at Calhanoglu, who has been vocal about his interest in moving to Galatasaray. Marotta suggested that the playmaker will be moving on when they find an amicable solution to his situation.

He told : "I interpret [Martinez's] words positively, Lautaro as captain has highlighted some suppositions and some truths. One thing I always say, if a player wants to leave, it's right that he goes. There is no one who has concretely expressed this intention, he was perhaps referring to Calhanoglu but it is part of the end-of-season dynamics that we have always faced calmly.

"We will talk to Calhanoglu and we will deal with it in the best way for the interests of Inter and his team. This call from Lautaro is shared by the club, this must be the winning spirit that can take us far. Calhanoglu's drop in interest? No, we must thank him for what he has done."

  • THE CALHANOGLU SITUATION

Calhanoglu, 31, looks set to leave San Siro this summer, with Galatasaray openly flirting with him. The Turkish champions' president recently confirmed he had spoken to the ex-AC Milan player, though he insisted he was not tapping him up for a summer transfer.

"Calhanoglu is the light of our eyes. He is our pride, the captain of the national team, an important and successful player," Dursun Ozbek said. "Every team would like him. My meeting with Hakan, however, was not a market meeting. I was with a friend, a group of friends were talking on the phone with Hakan and when they saw me they passed me the phone. We said hello, he told me that he has been a Galatasaray fan since he was a child."

Positive talks held: Leeds serious over signing Firpo replacement for £1.6m

Leeds United have held talks and are very serious about signing a new international defender who could replace Junior Firpo.

Firpo impressing at Leeds with contract set to expire

Leeds have impressed on the whole during the current Championship season under Daniel Farke, and one player who has been key is left-back Firpo. The Dominican Republic international has contributed to an impressive 12 goals in 26 league appearances in 2024/25 and was named Leeds’ Player of the Month for February.

Talking after picking up the award, Firpo said: “The fans have always shown their love to me. I’m really grateful and appreciative of their support for us, whether it’s at home or away, they’re always unbelievable. I just want to continue performing for them as I have been.

“Working as part of a team, it really feels like we’ve all been going in the same direction. We’re pushing on together, we’re doing really really well and we’re getting closer to our target.”

However, despite Firpo now finding his feet in Yorkshire after a tricky first few years, the full-back is set to be out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to pen new terms.

As a result, he could leave for nothing, and there have been rumours over a return to Spain for Firpo where he played for Real Betis and Barcelona.

Should he depart for nothing, Leeds and the 49ers Enterprises will need a replacement, and it looks as if they have identified a new target.

Leeds hold positive talks over move to sign Zaidu Sanusi

According to reports from Africa Foot, Leeds have been in contact to hold talks with FC Porto over a move for Zaidu Sanusi. It is claimed that initial discussions have been positive with Leeds now very serious and interested in signing Sanusi.

An offer worth €2m (£1.6m) is being looked at by Leeds, with a four-year contract at Elland Road on the table. Sanusi is 27 years of age and has been on the books with FC Porto since 2020. Prior to that, the Nigeria international was with fellow Portuguese clubs Mirandela, Gil Vicente and Santa Clara.

Capped 22 times at international level, Sanusi has made 128 appearances for FC Porto and returned earlier this year from a serious ACL injury.

Essex sail a little rockily into uncharted territory

Gus Atkinson claims a maiden five-for to underline Surrey’s strength in depth

Alan Gardner04-May-2023

Gus Atkinson claimed his maiden first-class five-for•Getty Images

No team had made 300 against Surrey this season, and that record threatened to stretch into a seventh consecutive innings at Chelmsford. Essex were coasting towards uncharted territory at tea on the first day, 204 for 3 and with Tom Westley, the captain, and Matt Critchley ensconced in an unbroken hundred stand, only for a clatter of wickets to leave the scoreboard reading 245 for 8, and cries of “C’mon the ‘rey” drifting across the county ground. In the end, the home side pocketed their second batting point fairly comfortably, thanks to an enterprising partnership of 62 in 12 overs between Simon Harmer and Sam Cook. Both benefited from misses in the field – Harmer put down by Rory Burns at slip on 5, while Kemar Roach at fine leg completely failed to pick up a top-edged hook when Cook had 8 – and Surrey were left to repent at leisure before Gus Atkinson returned to cap a fine display with his maiden first-class five-wicket haul.By then Essex had carved out a position from which they could hope to remain competitive. Alastair Cook has endured a lean start to the season but produced a first half-century, and his efforts were matched by Westley and Critchley; but after toiling through the afternoon Surrey girded themselves in the manner of champions. Their response, on what looks a dry surface, against Harmer, who had men crowding the bat in his one over before stumps, could determine whether they maintain their position at the top of Division One after the conclusion of this round. These two counties have won four of the last five Championship titles, and this fixture featured 13 players with international experience. There might not have the attendant fanfare of Steven Smith’s debut for Sussex at New Road, but Sean Abbott bowling to Dan Lawrence offered up a proto-Ashes duel (even if both are some way off being selected at this stage) while Ben Foakes produced a reminder of what England would miss were he overlooked behind the stumps – even as Jonny Bairstow was doing his best a few hundred miles to the north to state a convincing case for why the selectors should do just that.Surrey, whose motto might be “never knowingly under-resourced”, were able to leave out their leading wicket-taker, Dan Worrall, and still produce the sort of concerted bowling performance that eventually found a way through the cracks in Essex’s batting. And despite the presence of Abbott and Roach, their most-impressive performer was Atkinson, the 25-year-old playing his first match of the season. His best figures in any format for Surrey included the prize wicket of Cook, that venerable warhorse of Ashes summers past, as well as both Essex tail-end miscreants to finish with fine figures of 6 for 68. There was also an important contribution from the returning Will Jacks, whose flighted offbreak was responsible for ending Essex’s fourth-wicket stand at 114, Critchley’s outside edge snapped up one-handed by a flying Burns in one of the better moments of Surrey fielding. Foakes, immaculate as ever, claimed five catches behind the stumps. The morning began with Essex opting to bat, the home XI bolstered by returns for Lawrence and Sam Cook after injury. Surrey omitted Worrall as part of the planned rotation of their seamers, while Jacks made his first appearance since suffering a hip injury while on England duty that scuppered his chances of playing in a maiden IPL.Essex’s openers negotiated the early exchanges without too many alarms, although Cook did enjoy an early let off – Jamie Smith failing to latch on to a sliced drive off Abbott that looped tantalisingly towards backward point when he had made 13. Cook’s front foot was soon lunging forward, Hungry Hippos-style, to clump the ball through cover as he went past 50 for the 193rd time in this, his 21st season as a first-class cricketer. He was dropped again shortly after, Ollie Pope only able to get a hand on a diving chance at second slip.Atkinson had been the bowler to end a 62-run opening stand, finding lift and movement from back of a length with just his second ball to have Nick Browne taken at third slip, and he produced an even better one-two combination to see off Cook. Having switched to round the wicket, Atkinson jagged one past the outside edge, missing the top of off stump by a whisker, then brought his next ball back to graze the inside edge – Foakes completing the dismissal with an athletic leg-side take.A third wicket went down straight after lunch, Abbott curving one past Lawrence’s outside edge for another Foakes catch – although whether the ball came off bat or thigh pad was less clear. Essex’s fourth-wicket pair then settled into a steady rhythm as the pendulum swung back towards the hosts. There was even the chance for fans of the home side to enjoy the glovework of Foakes, an Essex boy who has gone on to greater things with Surrey, who acrobatically held on to an in-dipping Roach yorker that beat Westley all ends up only to miss leg stump. The grumbles began after Critchley and Westley departed in consecutive overs, and may have increased a notch when Michael Pepper was caught behind attempting to reverse-sweep Jacks, having made 6 off six balls with one scoring shot. A collapse of 5 for 27 undid some of the hard work but few teams will tangle with Surrey this season and emerge completely unscathed.

Mickey Arthur 'excited' to rekindle Pakistan relationship in dual role with Derbyshire

Pakistan team director is one year into his four-year deal as Derbyshire head coach

Vithushan Ehantharajah30-Mar-2023Mickey Arthur is excited by the prospect of rekindling his relationship with the PCB ahead of taking up a position as a consultant for the Pakistan men’s national team.ESPNcricinfo reported that Arthur, who coached Pakistan between 2016 and 2019, has struck a deal as team director, with the important caveat he can fulfil the job remotely. The South African is currently head coach at Derbyshire, one year into a four-year deal signed with the English county at the end of 2021.The exact details of the agreement are still being ratified, not least the structure which will determine how hands-on the 54-year-old Arthur will need to be while leading Derbyshire through the county season. He will not be required to travel with Pakistan for any bilateral series, including the tour of Sri Lanka, which takes place in June and July. He is expected to attend the team’s preparation camp ahead of October’s ODI World Cup.Related

During conversations with the PCB, Arthur reiterated his commitment to Derbyshire. He is determined to see through what he regards as “a four-year project”. An approach for him to return outright as Pakistan’s head coach fell through last December before more back-and-forth allowed both parties to compromise with a consultancy role.”I’m very excited by that opportunity because Pakistan is very dear to me,” Arthur told ESPNcricinfo. “But Derbyshire is as well. That was one of the things that I kept saying to Najam Sethi [chair of the PCB] when he spoke to me – that Derbyshire was really important to me.”I’ve got a four-year contract here and I’m only year one into a project. With my proposal and schedule I’ve put in place, I know that it is possible. But the nitty-gritties, we’re just going through at the minute.”Arthur’s remit will be very different to the one he undertook as head coach, a job which is now due to be filled by Pakistan’s former fielding coach, Grant Bradburn. However, Arthur will be dealing with a lot of the same cricketers he oversaw during his tenure. Adjusting to a new dynamic with individuals he helped establish, such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan, will be a different proposition, and one he is looking forward to.”I kept in touch with all those players anyway. I’ve seen them grow up in front of me. The challenge is when I had them they were young boys,” he added, before joking: “They’ve grown into men with egos now!””Managing them is going to be important, but I’ve got great relationships with all of them. I just can’t wait to put that all together. I know I can and it’s going to be quite an attractive package for both Derbyshire and Pakistan.”It is understood Arthur will travel to Lahore next month, though those dates are yet to be sorted. Derbyshire begin their County Championship Division Two campaign against Worcestershire at home on April 6, but sit out of the third round of games. The gap between the end of the Round 2 fixture against Leicestershire, on April 16, and the start of Derbyshire’s next four-dayer against Durham on April 27 is a potential window for this visit.
